About the company

Our client is an early-stage healthcare company with widely adopted clinical products, now building generative AI and LLM-driven workflows on top of them. The engineering team is small and lean, with about ten engineers working directly with the CTO.

The role

This is a backend-focused full-stack role for a senior engineer with startup experience and a passion for healthcare. You would be a core team member, taking significant ownership to scale core services and ship new AI workflows.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship complex backend services that interface with LLMs and generative AI models
  • Own zero-to-one projects, from MVP prototypes to secure, reliable production systems
  • Help scale existing products as they launch to more organizations
  • Improve backend architecture, observability and code quality
  • Work in a flat structure directly with other engineers and the CTO

Nice to have

  • MongoDB, PostgreSQL, FastAPI or AWS
  • Production LLM or generative AI systems
  • Interest in healthcare or health-tech AI

Tech stack

Python, TypeScript, React, React Native, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS.

Compensation & logistics

  • $190k–$230k base + competitive equity
  • Hybrid in San Francisco, three days a week in person
  • No visa sponsorship: open only to candidates already authorized to work in the US who will not need sponsorship now or in the future
  • 5–10 years of experience
